Camlia Galaz’s STUDIO VLOG tracks our changing connection to productivity from the position of an artist. Being an artist often means having a complex relationship with work and output – artmaking can function in a person’s life as an emotional anchor. How do we understand ourselves as artists as we move deeper into isolation, away from the studio, away from work, away from physical space? Do we need to recreate the demands and structure of productivity even when the world stops?

Camila Galaz is a visual artist working in video, text, and across digital platforms. Her works look to understand intimate connections to history and collective memory, and the accessing of identity and culture through archival and digital worlds. Recent commissions include the Digital Writers’ Festival, Sister Gallery, and Outback Arthouse. She is the recipient of the 2018 M-Power Scholarship from the National Gallery of Victoria and the 2019-2020 Australia Council EMPAC New York Residency. In 2019 she presented a workshop series for Channels Video Art Festival (‘Time, After Time: A Reenactment Workshop’) and a Writing & Concepts lecture at the National Gallery of Victoria (‘Questioning Existence with the Subjunctive [Spanish Demystified]’).
